ISLAMABAD: Head of Pakistan’s high-level parliamentary delegation and former foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has warned that any attempt by India to block Pakistan’s water supply would be considered an act of war.

“If India blocks our water, war will be inevitable,” Bilawal warned the Indian government during an interview with the BBC.

The Pakistan People’s Party Chairman added that Pakistan’s position on key issues is “truthful and robust.” He said Pakistan’s efforts in the fight against terrorism are recognized and acknowledged in the United States.

“The US is well aware of how we deal with terrorist groups,” Bilawal stated.

He also highlighted Pakistan’s compliance with international standards, saying, “Pakistan has completed the entire FATF process.”

Meanwhile, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari told US media that the risk of full-scale war with India is higher than ever, adding that recent Indian actions have “dangerously lowered the threshold” for armed conflict in the region.

Speaking to the New York Post in an exclusive interview, he expressed gratitude for Washington’s role in securing a ceasefire.

“We’re incredibly grateful for the role that the US government — President Trump, Secretary [of State] Marco Rubio — created throughout this crisis in helping us all achieve this ceasefire,” said Bilawal.

“But our message has been that the ceasefire is a start. But, it is only a start, and what we seek is assistance in our pursuit of peace through dialogue and diplomacy.”

Bilawal added that the region was not as safe as it used to be before because of India’s unilateral measures. “We’re all a lot less safe as a result of this conflict than we were before,” he said.

“The threshold of full-out military conflict between Pakistan and India has been drastically lowered — the lowest it has ever been in our history, as a result of this conflict.”

It is pertinent to mention that a high-level Pakistani Parliamentary delegation, led by former foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, has reached the European Union capital Brussels after successful visits to Washington, New York, and London to debunk the Indian propaganda perpetrated after the recent conflict between the two countries.

The purpose of the visit of the delegation appointed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is to present Pakistan’s position on the recent tensions with India and highlight the importance of resolving the Jammu and Kashmir issue in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council and the wishes of the Kashmiri people, a news release said.

The delegation will hold meetings with senior officials of the European Union and Belgium during its visit to Brussels.
