India Beat Bangladesh by 50 Runs in T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8 Match

SAINT GEORGE: India have comfortably defeated Bangladesh by 50 runs to win their second Super 8 match of the T20 World Cup 2024 played at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua and Barbuda.

India are undefeated in this tournament with five wins and are close to confirming their spot in the semi-final.

Bangladesh had a slow start to chase 196 runs as Indian bowlers kept their dominance over them. Litton Das was the first man to exit in the fifth over by Hardik Pandya on 13.

Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto stayed on the pitch but he didn’t get enough support from the other end. Spinner Kuldeep Yadav removed Tanzid Hasan, 29 and Towhid Hridoy, 4 to put more pressure on the Bangladeshi team.

Shakib Al Hasan tried to accelerate but he lost his wicket on 11 off 8 balls. Najmul’s innings was ended by Jasprit Bumrah at 40. All-rounder Rishad Hossain tried to close the gap with quickfire 10-ball 24.

For India, Bumrah ended with 2/13 while Arshdeep Singh grabbed 2/30. Kuldeep claimed 3/19.

Earlier bating first, India scored 196/5 after being put into bat first.  The team started aggressively with Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma opening the innings. The Indian skipper scored 11-ball 23 before being dismissed by Shakib Al Hasan.

India managed 53/6 in powerplay.  Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant scored a brisk 36 from 24 balls with the help of four fours and two sixes.

Hardik Pandya’s quick half-century, helped India to outclass Bangladesh in the 47th match of the mega event.

Meanwhile, all-rounders Shivam Dube and Hardik Pandya scored freely and both added 53-run stand for fifth wicket. Dube scored 34 off 24 balls, with three sixes while Pandya remained not out on 50 off 27 balls.
