Largest Irrigation Network: Pakistan’s irrigation network is another source of national pride. Serving 90% of the country’s agricultural land, which spans 14.4 million hectares, this expansive system of canals, barrages, and reservoirs, including the Tarbela, Chashma, and Mangla dams, is the largest in the world. This intricate network ensures water security and supports the thriving agricultural sector that is the backbone of Pakistan’s economy.
Karakoram Highway: Connecting Pakistan to its northern neighbor, the Karakoram Highway is a true marvel of engineering. This paved international road, standing at an astounding 4,693 meters (15,397 feet) above sea level, is the highest in the world. Considered the Eighth Wonder of the World, the Karakoram Highway stands as a testament to the country’s extraordinary feats of civil engineering and its commitment to enhancing regional connectivity.
First Muslim Nuclear State: On May 28, 1998, Pakistan became the first and only Muslim country to possess nuclear technology, conducting six successful nuclear tests.
