ISLAMABAD: PTI Chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan has warned the federal government to announce the general elections. Otherwise, he will call for a massive and decisive Long March on Islamabad, adding that his Long March will not go beyond October (this month).
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad here on Monday, after winning majority seats in the recent by-polls, Imran Khan said: “We are completely prepared for the march and now the government has just a few days left to decide”, adding that if the government failed to take a decision, he would go for the announcement of the Long March.
The ex-Prime Minister also alerted the government that once the public came to the streets for protest, it would be out of control for the government and its law enforcement agencies, adding that the government should take my deadline seriously note.
Talking over the recent election, Imran khan said that the polls proved as a referendum against this imported government. He also blamed the Sindh government and claimed that the by-polls at NA-237 Malir were rigged and demanded re-polling in the constituency.
Imran Khan also criticized the Election Commission and blamed it took directions from Maryum Nawaz while the Sindh Chapter is on the payroll of the Sindh government. He added that the commission leaves no stone unturned in avoiding EVM (Electronic Voting Machine) devices. Responding to a question, Imran Khan said that the appointment of the Army Chief should be carried out on merit and should not be the choice of Asif Zardari or Nawaz Sharif.
