ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief and former prime minister Imran Khan will address his supporters in Islamabad after his appearance in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) seeking bail in the Al-Qadir Trust case and other cases.
The PTI has asked its supporters to converge on the capital where Imran Khan was set to make an address after his appearance before the high court today.
The PTI tweeted on its official handle: “Thousands of peaceful Pakistanis from across the country will gather at Srinagar Highway in G-13 Islamabad this morning to express solidarity with Imran Khan.”
The tweet added that Imran would address his supporters after appearing in the IHC.
“After appearing in the IHC, Imran will have an address at this venue.”
Imran is scheduled to appear before the IHC today for the hearing in the Al-Qadir Trust case. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had arrested Khan in the same case, sparking violent protests nationwide.
Invalid and unlawful
Earlier on Thursday, the apex court said the manner in which the arrest the NAB arrested Khan from the IHC premises was unlawful.
“The execution of the warrant violated Imran’s right to access for justice and the sanctity and safety of the court even though he had already surrendered to the court for seeking judicial relief against the action taken by NAB in the Al Qadir Trust case” the top court said.
“In this regard, the fundamental rights of the petitioner under Articles 4, 9, 10-A and 14 of the constitution have been infringed, the Supreme Court order said, adding that the petitioner was directed to be produced before IHC on May 12 at 11 am for a hearing of his case filed to challenge the NAB action in the Al Qadir Trust case.
The NAB authorities and the police would ensure foolproof security to the petitioner until his production in the IHC, the order said, adding that the IHC registrar will place the matter before the CJ of IHC for constituting a bench for hearing the case.
The top court said the PTI Imran would remain at Police Lines under the protection of the court.
