Imran Khan Slams Nawaz Sharif, Incumbent Government

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan has criticized Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif, claiming the latter wanted to debar him from the country’s politics, local media reported on Tuesday.

Imran Khan Criticizes Nawaz Sharif

Speaking via video link, Imran Khan flayed Nawaz Sharif, adding, “How can Nawaz Sharif take decision about the fate of the country as what belongs to him is abroad. He (Nawaz Sharif) first fled Pakistan during Pervez Musharraf’s government. Now when the court sentenced Nawaz Sharif, he fled the country again.”

Imran Khan also slammed the current government, saying, “People with more money are occupying the seats in the assemblies.” He claimed, “There is no rule of law in the country.”

He said that on the next foundation day of PTI, it would be in power — as he campaigns for the next elections in Punjab.

“On the 28th anniversary of PTI, you will be in power,” Imran Khan said during his address through video link to the party workers on the party’s 27th foundation day.

Imran Khan founded his party on April 25, 1996, in Lahore. PTI won its first seat during the 2002 elections when the former prime minister won the National Assembly seat of Mianwali.

In the address, Imran Khan asked his party workers to work for “real freedom”, noting that progress comes through democracy, justice, and freedom. The PTI chairman claimed, “We will come into power via public mandate.
