Former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan has filed a petition seeking pre-arrest bail in a prohibited funding case ahead of the hearing by a special court on Monday.

The bail petition has been filed by Imran’s counsel, who has pleaded with the court to prevent the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) from arresting Khan.

A source said that the former prime minister has also decided to show up in person to secure his bail.

Imran Khan has applied for pre-arrest bail from the special court after the Islamabad High Court directed Khan to appear in the relevant court in the prohibited funding case.

The IHC had granted protective bail to Imran Khan against a surety bond of Rs5,000 until October 18.

The IHC stated that if the issue is not handled at the appropriate court, it will keep the case pending and hear the plea.

Imran Khan and other PTI leaders were booked by the FIA last week in the prohibited funding case.

The FIA’s banking circle police station had registered an FIR against the former prime minister and others.

The federal agency claimed in the FIR that the Abraaj Group transferred $2110,000 to the PTI account. The FIR stated that the party also got additional funding from two Wotan Cricket Club bank accounts.
