LAHORE: Pakistan’s former prime minister and chairman of the country’s main opposition party, Imran Khan, has said that the extension to General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa’s tenure as army chief was a mistake.
Talking to a delegation of PTI leaders in Lahore on Monday, Imran Khan said that he had the last meeting with General (retd) Qamar Bajwa in August. “There was a message from General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa for an extension in tenure. The rule of law was destroyed during Bajwa’s presence,” Khan added.
The PTI chief said that the people like Asif Zardari and Nawaz Sharif were a hurdle in the progress of poor countries like Pakistan.

“I was treated like an enemy. Senator Azam Swati was subjected to violence just for tweeting. Corrupt people are not held in Pakistan. The solution to Pakistan’s problems lies in the conduct of fair and transparent elections.”
Earlier, presiding over a meeting of PTI spokespersons, Imran Khan directed to make the PTI narrative more effective against the federal government. He asked the spokespersons to inform the people about the federal government’s failures.
“The facts about the economic situation and rising inflation should be conveyed to the people. People should be informed about how the federal government benefited from NRO 2,” Khan added.
