RIYADH: The Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) held the 2nd meeting of the chiefs of staff of the member nations and supporting nations, chaired by Chief of the General Staff of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) General Fayyadh Al-Ruwaili, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Wednesday.
According to the SPA, the meeting discussed IMCTC strategy, outstanding achievements, and initiatives in several areas of the coalition’s work, including media, counter-terrorism financing, intellectual, and military efforts.
The SPA reported that the participants of the meeting discussed the objectives of these initiatives and their role in supporting member nations in their fight against violence, terrorism, and extremism.

According to the SPA, Al-Ruwaili highlighted the role of the coalition in preparing for the upcoming meeting of defense ministers from IMCTC nations, scheduled for February 2024. The SPA reported that the meeting will be chaired by Minister of Defense and Chairman of IMCTC Ministers of Defense Council Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz.

IMCTC Secretary-General Major General Mohammed Al-Moghedi has emphasized that the initiatives put forth by member nations were developed based on the needs of the coalition, the SPA added. These initiatives, he added, were thoroughly studied and analyzed, and were taken in accordance with the coalition’s governance and global laws, to ensure that the desired objectives are attained, the SPA maintained.
Major General Mohammed Al-Moghedi stated that there have been more than 60 requests for support from member nations, covering several aspects of counterterrorism, the SPA said. The coalition, he further said, “has diligently examined” these requests, in compliance with global laws. Once approved by the IMCTC Ministers of Defense Council, they will be executed as appropriately.
