WASHINGTON: Former US President Donald Trump posted to Facebook and YouTube on Friday, in a return to the social media platforms he used to power his political upsurge until he was cut off after the Jan. 6, attack on Congress by his supporters and followers.

The posts on his YouTube and Facebook page, which were titled “I’M BACK!,” show a CNN footage announcing Donald Trump’s election as president in the 2016 elections against Hillary Clinton. It then dwindles to a ‘Trump 2024’ screen.
“Sorry to keep you waiting,” Donald Trump says in the video.
YouTube restored Donald Trump’s channel earlier on Friday while the former President’s Instagram and Facebook accounts were restored earlier this year. Similarly, Donald Trump’s Twitter account was also reinstated in November by Elon Musk but he (Trump) has yet to post on it.

YouTube said in a tweet that they carefully assessed the continued risk of real-world violence while also balancing the chance for voters to hear equally from major candidates during elections. However, Donald Trump’s campaign team did not respond to a request for comment on the development.
