IIOJK World’s Most Dangerous Place for Journalists: Report

SRINAGAR: The Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) is recognized as one of the most perilous regions globally, where individuals associated with the press and media bravely perform their professional duties despite the daunting circumstances.

According to a report compiled by the Kashmir Media Service on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, observed on Friday, 20 journalists have been confirmed killed while carrying out their duties in the IIOJK during the Kashmiris’ ongoing struggle for liberation since 1989.

Among those commemorated are Shabbir Ahmed Dar, Mushtaq Ali, Muhammad Shaban Wakeel, and Aasiya Jeelani, along with others such as Ghulam Muhammad Lone, Shujaat Bukhari, and Ali Muhammad Mahajan. These journalists, among several others, made the ultimate sacrifice in the pursuit of truth amidst the turmoil of Kashmir.
