ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi has called upon the international community to address blatant violation of human rights in the Indian Illegally-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
In a commemorative statement on the occasion of the 92nd Youm-e-Shuhada, a day that honours the memory of 22 Kashmiris who were martyred on this day in 1931 by Dogra forces, the President emphasized the need for a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute in alignment with the UN Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people, according to state media.
Extending heartfelt tributes to the Martyrs of 13th July 1931, the President expressed solidarity with the Pakistani nation in honouring the sacrifices made by these martyrs.
He highlighted that the Kashmiri people persistently struggle against the unlawful Indian occupation, expressing regret over the fact that nine lak Indian forces continue to hold the Kashmiri people hostage to perpetuate their illegitimate control over the region.
The President asked the Indian authorities to cease their campaign of persecution in the illegally-occupied Jammu and Kashmir and demanded immediate release of all political detainees. Furthermore, he stressed the imperative of lifting the military siege and putting an end to the endeavours aimed at changing the demographic composition of the occupied territory. The President firmly advocated for the realisation of the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.
