ISLAMABAD: The All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC) on Friday said that Jammu and Kashmir is a disputed territory, recognized by the UN Security Council in its resolutions.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the APHC spokesperson, in a statement released in Srinagar, criticized the BJP-led Hindutva government for its actions on August 5, 2019, when it divided the disputed territory of Jammu and Kashmir into two Indian union territories.
This move was deemed a violation of the UN Charter, UN Security Council resolutions, and even bilateral agreements between Pakistan and India.
Condemning the aggressive policies of the Modi regime towards Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), the spokesperson emphasized that India’s leadership, which has been involved in violence against innocent Kashmiris, is determined to suppress any dissent in the occupied territory.
The APHC spokesperson praised the resilience of Kashmiri youth, who have embraced the struggle for freedom and have been sacrificing their lives in resistance against India’s illegal occupation.
He urged New Delhi to abandon its approach, emphasizing that genuine freedom movements cannot be suppressed through force.
Regarding the plight of Kashmiri prisoners, the APHC spokesperson expressed concern over the arbitrary detention of political leaders without fair trials, the inhumane treatment of prisoners, and the intimidation of their families, calling these actions as yet another facet of Indian colonialism.
The APHC spokesperson urged the international community and influential world governments to acknowledge the worsening political and human rights situation in IIOJK and play a constructive role in resolving the Kashmir dispute as per the UN Security Council resolutions. —APP
