SRINAGAR: To address the public’s widespread boycott of India’s Independence Day celebrations in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), the occupation authorities have mandated attendance for all government employees in Srinagar and Jammu on August 15.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the General Administration Department has issued an order requiring all officers and officials in IIOJK to attend Independence Day events at Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar or Maulana Azad Stadium in Jammu as part of their official duties.
The directive makes attendance compulsory for all administrative secretaries, department heads, and public sector executives, who are tasked with ensuring their staff’s compliance.
This move comes in response to the local population’s disinterest in participating in Indian Independence Day activities.
By enforcing attendance, the IIOJK administration aims to fill the venues and project a facade of celebration, despite the prevailing sentiment of discontent among Kashmiris. The directive is seen as an effort to create a false impression of enthusiasm and participation amid widespread boycotts.
