Staff Report
ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Monday sought a report from the Cabinet Division in a plea seeking implementation on the Pakistan Information Commission’s (PIC) decision regarding the provision of Toshakhana gifts details from 1947 till date.
Justice Mian Gul Hassan heard the petition. Syed Ahsan Raza Shah, Deputy Attorney General, told the court that he was unsure whether the Toshakhana record before 1990 was available. He said that such information should be present on the website.
The court instructed sharing the record with the petitioner if it is available.
Toshakhana gifts’ details
The petitioner’s lawyer said that the Cabinet Division had refused to share the requested details saying it was classified. He added that the PIC issued the order on 29 June in this regard.
Justice Hassan raised the question of why the petitioner was limiting the information to the extent of former prime ministers and presidents and why not the government servants should be included in the list.
The case was adjourned till the next date.
