ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) reserved its judgment on Tuesday in a case concerning the unauthorized allocation of a government residence to Raziq Sanjrani.

The court has also requested records from the Ministries of Housing, Petroleum, and the Establishment Division regarding the allocation of the government residence and the appointment of Raziq Sanjrani.

Justice Babar Sattar presided over the contempt of court case related to Sanjrani’s matter.

At the beginning of the hearing, Sanjrani’s counsel argued that the said house had been surrendered.

The bench inquired with officials from the Ministry of Petroleum and the Establishment Division about the records pertaining to Sanjrani’s appointment.

An official stated that the appointment was made under Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e Balochistan, and later, the Saindak Metals company regularized its services.

The court noted that Saindak Metals had appointed Sanjrani as a director of the company in 2008 for a three-year term. It asked whether any extensions had been granted to him and instructed officials to submit the relevant records.

The official from the Establishment Division stated that the appointment had been made on the recommendation of the Chief Minister of Balochistan.

Justice Sattar inquired about the laws under which Sanjrani was provided with a government category-I accommodation and asked who was paying the rent for the house.

An official from the Ministry of Housing mentioned that they submitted vouchers of house expenses to the relevant company every three months.

The court expressed concern that federal secretaries were facing difficulties in obtaining houses in the capital while the ministry was occupied with issuing vouchers.

It stated that a second notice was being served and warned that contempt of court proceedings could be initiated.

The court emphasized that the matter indicated internal issues and had no involvement with the company, prime minister, or chief minister. Despite service regularization, Sanjrani would remain an employee of the company.
