IHC Registrar Raises Objections to Imran Khan’s Plea Challenging Toshakhana Arrest Warrant

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court’s Registrar’s Office raised objections to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan’s petition after he challenged his arrest warrants in the Toshakhana case on Friday.

According to the registrar’s office, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief’s biometric was not available. “How can the court hear the same matter on which it has already given a decision?” the office also questioned.

Earlier in the day, the former prime minister challenged Islamabad sessions court’s decision of rejecting his plea seeking suspension of his arrest warrants issued against him in the case. Imran Khan, who is holed up at his Lahore’s Zaman Park residence. Imran Khan challenged the local court decision through his lawyer Khawaja Haris.

In his petition, the PTI chairman requested: “The undertaking should be accepted and the police should be stopped from arresting.” Khan also assured the court to appear before the sessions court tomorrow (Saturday), requesting the court to hear his plea urgently.

“[…] non-bailable warrant of arrest has been issued by this court just for the appearance of the applicant. The applicant is ready and willing to appear before this court on the fixed date i.e. 18.03.2023 and he has given his undertaking in this regard,” the petition read.

Khan approached IHC after sessions court rejected his plea

Additional District and Sessions Judge Thursday rejected Imran Khan’s plea seeking the suspension of non-bailable arrest warrants issued in the Toshakhana case. Judge Zafar Iqbal announced the verdict reserved earlier redirecting the authorities to arrest the PTI chief and present him before the court on March 18.
