ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday issued notice to Chairman Exact Software Company Shoaib Sheikh to appear before the court at every hearing in the fake degrees case.
The IHC bench headed by Chief Justice Aamer Farooq was hearing Shoaib Sheikh’s please seeking permanent exemption from court appearance.
Shoaib Sheikh has filed a plea in IHC against his sentence in the Axact fake degrees case. During the hearing, advocate Latif Khosa told the court that during the previous hearing, there was an order that Shoaib Sheikh should be present, therefore is requesting the court to exempt Shoaib Sheikh from court attendance in the future.
The court asked the FIA (Federal Investigation Agency) prosecutor about the delay in the case; he responded that the accused were not attended the hearing until the issuance of warrants against them.
The prosecutor added that on July 5, 2018, when they were sentenced, they ran away from the court. Again, on September 28, 2018, he surrendered, followed by issuing notices, and on October 23, 2018, the sentence was suspended. He added that the accused was avoiding attending previous hearings.
Meanwhile, the Chief Justice said that it is a criminal matter, the appeal has been going on for four or five years, and they are hiding from the court.
Later the court directed Shoaib Sheikh to appear at every hearing. Further hearing of the case was adjourned for the next week while also issuing a notice on the request for permanent immunity.
