ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) issued a written order on Wednesday detailing the proceedings of Tuesday’s hearing of an appeal by former Prime Minister Imran Khan against his conviction in the Toshakhana case.
A bench comprising Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri noted in the order that Amjad Pervaiz, representing the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), had requested a two-week extension to provide verified case records. The petitioner’s legal team, however, opposed this request.
Considering the principles of justice, the court granted the ECP two days to present the required records and scheduled the next hearing for August 24, as stated in the order.
The order also highlighted that Dr. Babar Awan had submitted an application to meet the imprisoned PTI chief. While objections were raised by the Registrar’s Office, Babar Awan expressed willingness to adhere to these objections if granted permission for the meeting.
The court maintained the Registrar’s Office’s objections to Babar Awan’s application while instructing the administration of Attock Jail to facilitate Babar Awan’s meeting with the former prime minister on August 23, between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
Additionally, the order mentioned that the court approved an application by Latif Khosa, allowing him to meet the PTI chief at 2 p.m. on the same date.
