ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Thursday extended pre-arrest bail of former prime minister Imran Khan in eight cases until April 18.
A division bench of the IHC comprising Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb heard the bail applications of Imran Khan in the cases registered against him under terrorism charges.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman, however, decided not to appear in court. He instead filed an application for exemption from court appearance which was also accepted. The cases, in which Imran Khan sought pre-arrest bail, include vandalism, stone pelting and arson outside the Islamabad judicial complex.
The court had granted Imran Khan interim bail in the cases till Thursday and ordered that the PTI chairman appear before it at every hearing and participate in the investigation till a decision on the bail pleas comes. The investigation officer was also told to attend all the hearings. However, Imran Khan’s lawyers filed a request for one-time exemption from appearance.
