ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday barred the police from arresting Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former federal minister Ali Amin Gandapur.
IHC judge Arbab Muhammad Tahir took up Gandapur’s plea seeking details of cases registered against him. Gandapur’s lawyer Raja Zahoor ul Hassan advocate said that there are a number of cases registered against his clients at various police stations in Islamabad, but they don’t have details about it.
He requested the court to order police to submit the record of cases against Ali Amin Gandapur. The IHC, while barring police from arresting the PTI leader, sought details from the respondents after issuing notices to them for March 31.
A team of Islamabad Police last week reached Dera Ismail Khan for the arrest of PTI leader Ali Amin Gandapur.
A case had been registered against the PTI leader at Golra police station of Islamabad. Meanwhile, Bhakkar Police has also filed a case under the Anti-Terrorism Act against the former minister.
Police yesterday tried to stop Gandapur’s car at Dajal check post in Dera Ismail Khan. Police claimed that the PTI leader “infuriated, confronted with policemen and resorted to firing”.
