ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday barred the authorities concerned from handing over Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Ali Amin Gandapur to the provincial police until 2 pm today as it summoned the investigating officer along with the records of the case.

DSP Legal Mohammad Riaz and Gandapur’s lawyer Sher Afzal Marwat appeared in the court in a hearing relating to cases registered against the PTI leader in Bhakkar.

Today’s Hearing

During the hearing, Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir told DSP Legal that 500 FIRs could not be registered in a single allegation, and only one investigation is to be filed in this case. He inquired if the arrest had been made over the case in Bhakar.

The judge directed the police officer to inform the court when Gandapur’s physical remand ends. DSP Legal assured the court to inform it of the matter today.

The judge asked Gandapur’s lawyer about the duration of his physical remand, to which the PTI leader’s counsel responded that his remand will end today, adding that terrorism provisions against his client have been quashed and he is likely to be handed over to Bhakkar police today.

The court adjourned the hearing till 2 pm today and issued instructions not to hand over Gandapur to Bhakkar police or any other law enforcement agency until the hearing is resumed.
