ISLAMABAD: The High Commissioner of Malaysia to Pakistan, Ambassador Mohammad Azhar Mazlan and his spouse, Madam Amelia Amani Azhar hosted the “Iftar Get-Together for Malaysian Diaspora and Friends of Malaysia” at the Malaysian High Commission in Islamabad, local media reported on Monday.

Addressing the gathering, Ambassador Azhar highlighted the significance of such gatherings in nurturing community bonds among fellow Malaysians and Pakistani friends, while also acknowledging the blessings of the holy month of Ramadan. Stressing unity and discipline among Malaysian diasporas, Ambassador Azhar lauded their substantial contributions to fortifying the fraternal relations between Malaysia and Pakistan.

Ambassador Azhar expressed his delight and pledged to make the event an annual fixture at the High Commission. The gathering was decorated with a traditional Malaysian menu, featuring delectable dishes such as mee goreng, daging kurma, nasi minyak, soto, and an array of traditional desserts, evoking a sense of nostalgia among attendees reminiscent of home in Malaysia.

Beyond its social aspect, the Iftar event provided a platform for guests to engage with officials from the Malaysian High Commission, facilitating exchanges on the latest developments in Malaysia and Pakistan.
