KABUL: The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) has welcomed the optimistic indicators published in a World Bank (WB) report on Monday over the economy of Afghanistan.

In a statement issued by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, the IEA termed the report as a significant indication of actual economic development and mobility in Afghanistan.

The WB report maintained that the prices of food and oil went down, the value of the Afghani currency against foreign currencies held ground, and there has been a vivid increase in exports. It further noted that the salaries of government employees have been paid on time, and there has been an agreeable increase in the level of national income.

“The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan believes that if the restrictions in the banking sector are removed and the frozen capital of Afghans released, the economic situation would be even better, and it will take firm steps towards consolidation as much as possible,” the statement noted. It further said that after these steps, the responsibility of the international community towards Afghanistan would also decrease.

Afghanistan’s Economic Development

The IEA has asked all international organizations to remind the world about the progress and developments that have taken place in Afghanistan, particularly in the economic sector, so that the world could be aware of the real situation in Afghanistan.

As per the statement, Islamic Emirate requests all international organizations and donor agencies to cooperate with Kabul in the financing of development projects, based on which the level of unemployment would go down and have more optimistic effects on the economic situation in the country.

Moreover, the Islamic Emirate has requested the WB to resume all those incomplete projects being financed by the organization, which were left unfinished after the IEA regained control of the country.
