LOS ANGELES: The music icon Cher took to Twitter on Christmas to share the flashy engagement-like ring her much younger boyfriend gifted her.
The “Believe” singer Cher, 76, used a caption with the diamond ring photo, writing “There Are No Words Alexander”.
The tweet got over 66,000 likes at the time of publication. Her followers and well-wishers started pouring congratulations, who assumed the veteran singer and her boyfriend were engaged.
To do damage control, the icon singer reposted the picture with some clarification. Cher said that she posted this diamond ring because “his nails are so cool”. She was talking about the manicure of Edward,36, which could be seen holding the ring in its box.
The romantic relationship between Cher and Edwards came to light early last month when the couple was holding hands in matching clothes.
While appearing on a TV show earlier this month, the singer said the few men she dated who were about her age, just did not like her for some reason.
Cher stresses for no compromise
Responding to the critics of the huge gap in her age with Edward’s, Cher added that it is likely that younger men do not care if you are funny or outrageous and want to do stupid things.
Cher stressed that she was not giving up her personality for anyone.
