ISLAMABAD: A delegation led by Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari, President of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), representing the Pakistan Chemists and Druggists Association (PCGA) Federal Branch, held a meeting with Dr. Zaeem Zia, District Health Officer (DHO), Islamabad. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss and address key issues affecting chemists and druggists in the federal capital, with a focus on promoting ease of doing business and facilitating the growth of their business activities.
During the meeting, Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari outlined the challenges faced by chemists and druggists, emphasizing the impact of online buying and selling of medicines on genuine businesses. He urged the government to develop a robust monitoring mechanism to curb illegal online activities. Appreciating the efforts of DHO Islamabad in enhancing the performance of health units in the region, Bakhtawari assured the delegation’s cooperation in such initiatives.
Dr. Zaeem Zia, DHO Islamabad, assured the delegation that measures would be taken to address the highlighted issues. He specifically mentioned improvements in the online licensing system for pharmacies and medical stores in line with the delegation’s suggestions. The deployment of new ambulances equipped with modern facilities for District Health Units (DHUs) in Islamabad was also discussed.
Mian Tariq Saeed, Chairman, and Qaiser Masood, Secretary General of PCGA Federal Branch, shared ideas to enhance the digitization of licenses for pharmacies and medical stores, aiming to further ease the business processes. Additionally, proposals related to Nordex and Sanofi companies were presented for the attention of DHO Islamabad. The meeting concluded with a commitment to collaborative efforts for the betterment of the business environment for chemists and druggists in the region.
