DUBAI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday sanctioned four players from Pakistan and India for breaches of its Code of Conduct during the ACC Men’s T20 Asia Cup 2025, the governing body said.
Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf received a two-match suspension after accruing four demerit points, ICC said in a press release.
The ICC found Haris Rauf guilty of breaching Article 2.21, which covers conduct that brings the game into disrepute, on two occasions in matches against India.
He was fined 30 per cent of his match fee on each occasion and given two demerit points each time.
The four demerit points were recorded within a 24-month period. Under the ICC disciplinary framework, that translated into two suspension points and an immediate ban for Pakistan’s first two home ODIs against South Africa on 4 and 6 November.
The hearings were overseen by match referee Richie Richardson, the ICC said.
Meanwhile, top-order batter Sahibzada Farhan was reprimanded for a breach of the same article. He received an official warning and one demerit point, the ICC said.
Farhan had been penalised over a goal-celebration style gesture after reaching his fifty.

India captain Suryakumar Yadav was found guilty of conduct bringing the game into disrepute in the group-stage fixture with Pakistan on 14 September.
The ICC fined him 30 per cent of his match fee and added two demerit points to his record, the statement said.
The Pakistan Cricket Board had lodged a formal complaint over Yadav’s post-match remarks.
Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah accepted a proposed sanction under the same article for a gesture in the Asia Cup final.
He was handed one demerit point. No formal hearing was required in his case, the ICC said.
India seamer Arshdeep Singh was cleared of an alleged breach of Article 2.6, which covers obscene, offensive or insulting gestures.
Match referee Andy Pycroft convened the hearing and found the evidence insufficient to impose a sanction, the ICC added.
The ICC said the hearings arose from incidents in the India-Pakistan matches on 14, 21 and 28 September. The panel of Emirates ICC Elite Match Referees conducted the proceedings.
