KEY POINTS

  • Fresh batch of tickets with prices as low as $1.11 has been released for T20 World Cup.
  • The tournament opens on Feb. 7 with a double-header featuring Pakistan vs Netherlands and India vs USA.
  • Venue of the final (Ahmedabad or Colombo) will be determined by whether Pakistan qualifies for it.

DUBAI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced on Wednesday that a new batch of tickets for the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup is now available for purchase, maintaining the tournament’s commitment to affordable access for global fans.

The 10th edition of the T20 showcase will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka from February 7 to March 8, 2026, featuring 20 nations competing across premier venues in both countries.

‘Record Affordable’ ticket prices continue

Following the successful initial sale phase launched in December, the ICC has again set ‘record affordable’ price points to encourage widespread attendance.

Ticket prices start as low as INR 100 (approx. $1.11) in India and LKR 1000 (approx. $3.26) in Sri Lanka.

“Prioritising fan access for fans around the world, the ICC has introduced record affordable ticket prices for the marquee tournament,” the global cricket body stated.

Tournament format and high-profile opening

Twenty teams will first compete in a group stage, divided into four groups of five.

The top two teams from each group will progress to the Super Eight stage, which will consist of two pools of four teams each, running from February 21 to March 1.

The tournament will kick off in style on February 7 with a double-header: Pakistan vs the Netherlands, followed by defending champions and hosts India taking on the USA in Mumbai.

The group stage concludes on February 20 with a match between Australia and Oman in Kandy, Sri Lanka.

Final venue contingent on Pakistan’s Progress

A unique aspect of the schedule concerns the location of the final. The championship match is scheduled for March 8.

However, the host city will be either Ahmedabad, India, or Colombo, Sri Lanka, depending on Pakistan’s qualification for the knockout stages.

Pakistan will play all its matches, including any potential knockout games, in Sri Lanka.

Therefore, if Pakistan advances to the final, the match will be held in Colombo. If they do not, the final will be played in Ahmedabad.

The two semi-finals are scheduled for March 4 and 5, 2026, setting the stage for a grand finale to what promises to be a landmark event for cricket in the South Asian subcontinent.
