  • Australia’s Cameron Green jumped 40 spots in batting rankings
  • Nathan Ellis surged 21 places in bowling rankings, while Josh Inglis climbed 23 spots in batting

ISLAMABAD: Australia’s recent dominance against South Africa has sparked major shake-ups in the ICC ODI rankings, with Cameron Green and Josh Inglis making notable gains in batting, while Sri Lanka’s Maheesh Theekshana joined South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj as the world’s joint No.1 bowler.

Twin kings of spin

Just a week after South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj rose to No.1 in the bowling rankings thanks to a five-wicket masterclass, his follow-up performances dipped slightly – returning figures of 0-40 and 1-57.

That opened the door for Sri Lanka’s Maheesh Theekshana, whose consistent brilliance now sees him level on 671 rating points, making the duo joint-No ODI bowlers in the world.

Australia’s firepower

Among the biggest movers was Aussie quick Nathan Ellis, who rocketed 21 places up the bowling charts to No.65 after his tidy spells of 2-46 and 0-25.

On the flip side, Adam Zampa slipped out of the top 10, replaced by Gudakesh Motie of the West Indies.

In the batting department, Cameron Green made headlines with a record-breaking century, the second-fastest ever by an Aussie in ODIs.

That innings shot him up 40 spots to No.78, and also earned him a 19-place leap to No.69 in the all-rounders’ rankings.

Fellow Aussie Josh Inglis wasn’t far behind, climbing 23 places to No.64 after a fluent 87 off 74 balls in the second ODI.
