ICC Issues New Rankings for Test Format; Only One Pakistani in Top 10

DUBAI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has issued a new ranking for the Test format as New Zealand’s Kane Williamson has secured the first position with 864 points, ICC said.

In the batting rankings issued by the world cricket body, New Zealand’s Kane Williamson is at the top, followed by England batsman Joe Root, and Australia’s Steve Smith at the third place.

After climbing three positions in the rankings, Virat Kohli is at 6th with 775 points and has overtaken Babar Azam. Babar Azan has fallen to the eighth place with 768 points.

Pakistan player Mohammad Rizwan’s brilliant knock of 88 in the first innings against Australia helped him to moved up 10th position to 16th place with 668 points and Saud Shakeel moved to 14th place with 693 points.

On the bowling side, Aamir Jamal continued to impress in his debut series, with his inspiring six-wicket haul in the Sydney Test taking him up 12th position in the rankings to 45th, while Shaheen Afridi is at the 12th place with 733 points. According to the ICC, Ravichandran Ashwin continues to top the bowling rankings with 863 points.
