DUBAI: The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, which started on Thursday in the United Arab Emirates, introduced a smart replay system for the first time in any ICC tournament.

This event marks a significant advancement as it adopts Smart Replay technology, which has been successfully used in league tournaments like The Hundred and IPL 2024.

Each match will be equipped with 28 cameras to provide the TV umpire with enhanced footage, aiding in more accurate decision-making.

For stumpings, the new system will showcase footage from three angles—side-on and front-on—within a single frame, improving clarity and precision.

Previously, a stump cam recorded actions at about 50 frames per second (FPS), but the new Hawk-Eye cameras will capture footage at approximately 300 FPS, granting umpires access to significantly more accurate visuals for their decisions.
