New Zealand has made a crucial change to its lineup by bringing in right-arm pace bowler Kyle Jamieson as a replacement for fellow pace bowler Matt Henry. Unfortunately, Matt Henry was ruled out of the ICC World Cup 2023 due to a hamstring injury he sustained during a match against South Africa.
The 31-year-old Henry suffered the injury midway through his sixth over during a game against South Africa, where his team faced a 190-run defeat in the ICC World Cup 2023 group stage match in Pune. An MRI scan later confirmed a grade-two tear of his right hamstring, with an estimated recovery time of two to four weeks.
New Zealand’s coach, Gary Stead, expressed his disappointment at the loss of Matt Henry, acknowledging his significant contribution to the team over the years. Matt Henry has consistently held a place among the top 10 ODI bowlers in the ICC rankings, a testament to his skill and excellence in the sport.
The injury has left New Zealand with challenges to overcome as they face a crucial match against Pakistan in Bengaluru, where a victory is imperative to their World Cup campaign.
