ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is hosting the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 after nearly three decades, bringing eight of the world’s top cricketing nations to a country known for its rich cultural heritage and love for the sport.

The true highlight of the tournament has been the warm hospitality shown by the Pakistani people, which has impressed players and officials from the start.

New Zealand’s former captain Kane Williamson drew attention for his sartorial choice in a hotel lobby—wearing a traditional dhoti paired with chappal, reflecting a deep respect for local culture. His attire sparked admiration on social media.

The players expressed their appreciation for Pakistan’s hospitality. New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra said, “The hospitality here is truly special,” while teammate Daryl Mitchell added, “We hope our performance brings joy to the faces of cricket fans across the nation.”

Glenn Phillips also joined in, thanking Pakistan with a heartfelt “Shukriya Pakistan!” in Urdu, showing his effort to connect with the local culture.

The Australian team also experienced Pakistan’s culture and security measures. Adam Zampa noted, “It’s heavily secured, but it’s comforting to know we’re well looked after,” appreciating the safety protocols in place.

Travis Head spoke about the importance of teamwork, saying, “We’re just making sure to look after each other and enjoy each other’s company.”

As the tournament progresses, the strong bonds among players from different nations are evident, with cricket acting as a bridge between cultures.
