Islamabad: In the finale of the tri-nation series held in Karachi yesterday (February 14), New Zealand triumphed over Pakistan, clinching victory by five wickets. This impressive performance has undoubtedly reshaped the landscape of the ICC Men’s ODI team rankings.

Set to chase down a target of 243, the Kiwis accomplished their mission in just 45.2 overs, leaving five wickets intact. Daryl Mitchell shone with a solid 57, while captain Tom Latham, who has been navigating a rough patch, contributed a crucial 56. Devon Conway (48), Kane Williamson (34), and Glenn Phillips (20 not out) also played pivotal roles in the successful run chase.

The foundation for this victory was laid by the bowlers, with Will O’Rourke emerging as the standout performer, claiming 4 wickets for 43 runs in 9.3 overs to keep the Pakistani batsmen in check. Mitchell Santner and Michael Bracewell each took two wickets, while Nathan Smith and Jacob Duffy chipped in with one apiece.

Meanwhile, Australia rebounded from a dismal 0-2 sweep at the hands of Sri Lanka to reclaim the second position, boasting a team rating of 110. They now trail the leaders, India, by nine points. India recently fortified their dominance at the summit by triumphing over England with a resounding 3-0 victory on home soil.
