WASHINGTON: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa has said that Pakistan Army is away from politics and will remain so.
Moreover, General Bajwa further stated, that he will leave his post as promised on completion of the term, according to the ISPR. A press release said General Bajwa is on a week-long visit to the United States, where he held an informal discussion at a luncheon at the Pakistani Embassy in Washington on Tuesday, October 4. General Bajwa reiterated his commitment to step down after completing his second three-year tenure in two months, saying he would follow through on his promise.
In this discussion, which was attended by the large audience of Pakistani diplomats, Army Chief said that restoring the weak economy of the Pakistan should be the first priority of all sections of the society. He stated that without a strong economy, the nation will not be able to achieve its goals and there can be no diplomacy without a strong economy.
