Hundreds of Afghan Families Repatriate Through Torkham Border

PESHAWAR: The return of Afghan families continues through the Torkham border, with approximately two hundred Afghan migrant families departing for Afghanistan in the past four days, as stated by an unnamed official from the Torkham Border on Saturday.Afghan families

According to the undisclosed official, a total of 198 families were transported to Afghanistan using 54 vehicles through the Torkham border. Additionally, the International Organization for Refugees (IOM) is actively registering Afghan refugees returning via the Torkham border.

Another official from the Afghan Commissionerate in Peshawar revealed that a significant number of Afghan refugees reside in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Specifically, there are 6,48,968 registered Afghan refugees in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while 885,000 Afghan refugees are settled in other areas, and 22,390 are living in tribal districts, as reported by the Afghan Commissionerate official. Furthermore, it was noted that over 300,000 Afghan refugees remain unregistered with the Afghan Commissionerate to date.
