THE HAGUE: Three Palestinian human rights groups have requested the International Criminal Court (ICC) to probe Israel for war crimes, including Palestinian’s genocide, related to the bombing and besieging of Gaza.

Israel, not being a member of the ICC and not recognizing its jurisdiction, has yet to respond on the demand of the Palestinian human rights groups.

The rights groups specified Israeli air strikes on civilian areas, the Gaza siege, and population displacement as actions amounting to war crimes and crimes against humanity, including genocide.

The three human rights organizations, namely Al Haq, Al Mezan, and the Palestine Human Rights Campaign, have urged the International Criminal Court to investigate Israeli air strikes targeting densely populated civilian areas in Gaza.

The ICC has confirmed receiving the communication and will assess the information provided.

It is pertinent to mention here that since October 7, Israeli airstrikes targeting residential buildings, schools and hospitals in which more than 11,078 innocent Palestinians, mostly children and women, were martyred. The fatalities include 195 doctors, paramedics, and nurses.

According to reports, more than one-third of buildings in Gaza have been either destroyed or damaged in these indiscriminate airstrikes.
