Official events
In countries such as the United States and the United Kingdom where a large number of Pakistanis live, consulates organise official flag-hoisting ceremonies, often attended by community leaders, diplomats, and expatriates. National anthems are sung, and prayers are offered for the progress and development of Pakistan.

Poetry recitals

Festive atmosphere
Food, a key part of any celebration, also features prominently. In Australia, for instance, “samosa parties” and BBQ gatherings are a common way for Pakistani families and friends to celebrate. Traditional dishes, music, and casual conversations about Pakistan create a festive, homely environment even thousands of miles away.
At many of these gatherings, there are also prayers for Pakistan’s prosperity and expressions of solidarity with the nation. Speeches often highlight the importance of the overseas Pakistani community in the country’s development. Many reaffirm their resolve to keep contributing to Pakistan—whether through remittances, expertise, or advocacy abroad.
Pride and unity
Overseas Pakistanis are frequently referred to as the biggest national asset, contributing billions in remittances annually. More than just economic contributors, they serve as ambassadors of Pakistan’s culture, values, and resilience.
For many living abroad, Independence Day is not only a time of celebration, but a moment of reflection, pride, and unity—a chance to honor their roots while pledging to play a role in building a stronger, more prosperous Pakistan.
