LOS ANGELES: Kim Kardashian continues to expand her business and real estate empire while her ex-husband, rapper Kanye West, faces financial setbacks and personal challenges following their high-profile split.

The 44-year-old billionaire and mother of four recently purchased a 5,000-square-foot property adjacent to her well-known compound in Hidden Hills, California, for $7 million.

The new acquisition follows the rapid success of her Skims brand’s latest “Faux Hair Micro String Thong”, which sold out within minutes.

Speaking to Variety, Kardashian expressed surprise at the product’s overwhelming response. “I had no idea that it would have quite the reaction and that it would sell out in a few minutes,” she said.

Meanwhile, her ex-husband, now known as Ye, sold his sprawling 6,713-acre ranch in Bighorn Mountain, Wyoming, back to its original owners, the Flitner family, for $14 million last month.

The property, once envisioned as part of West’s creative empire, was reportedly left in disrepair after years of neglect.

Another of his Wyoming properties, the Monster Lake Ranch, purchased for $8 million, has also fallen into a state of decline.

It was there that West had once announced plans to build futuristic domes aimed at tackling homelessness—an idea that never materialised.

From power couple to parallel lives

Kardashian and West, who married in 2014 and officially divorced in 2022, have since taken starkly different paths.

While Kardashian’s business ventures have flourished, West has faced a series of controversies stemming from his antisemitic remarks, erratic public behaviour, and financial difficulties.

Appearing on the Call Her Daddy podcast hosted by Alex Cooper, Kardashian spoke candidly about the emotional toll of her marriage and subsequent divorce.

She described West’s unpredictable behaviour as “unsettling” and said his erratic financial decisions created instability at home.

“I would come home, and we had like five Lamborghinis, and they’d all be gone if he was in an episode,” Kardashian said. “I didn’t know what you were going to get when you woke up.”

The breaking point

Kardashian explained that the emotional and mental strain of her marriage ultimately forced her to prioritise her wellbeing and her children.

“Once my mental health starts to get affected and I can’t parent the way that I need to, then there’s gotta be one of us that can,” she said. “I had to save myself in order to be a better mom for everyone.”

Despite their differences, she remains cautious about speaking negatively of West, noting that she still hopes for a healthy co-parenting relationship.

“I welcome a great healthy relationship with my kids and their dad, and I think he knows that. I push for it all the time,” she said, while revealing that West has had limited contact with their four children in recent months.

Reflecting on her life after divorce, Kardashian said she is more selective about relationships and no longer tolerates toxicity.

“I’m a really forgiving person, but I really haven’t dated like that to have those kinds of toxic relationships since I’ve been divorced,” she said. “When you get older, you just don’t tolerate that—you don’t have time.”

Despite the public scrutiny surrounding their separation, Kardashian insists she harbours no resentment toward her ex-husband. “An over a decade relationship with four beautiful children is not a failure,” she said.
