ISLAMABAD: Every year, millions of Muslims from around the world gather in Makkah to perform Hajj, a physically demanding journey of patience and endurance.
But for some, completing this sacred pilgrimage comes with extraordinary challenges.
Among the worshippers are bedridden pilgrims, the elderly, the ill, and the disabled.
Modern medical support
With the help of modern medical support, wheelchairs, stretchers, and dedicated volunteers, these pilgrims fulfil every rite of Hajj from Tawaf to Mina.
The Saudi Health Ministry takes bedridden pilgrims from Madinah hospitals to the holy sites in Makkah so that they can perform Hajj.
Specialised medical team
According to the ministry, the convoy consists of ambulances equipped with medical equipment, along with a specialised medical team consisting of doctors, nurses and paramedics, in addition to empty spare ambulances, intensive care ambulances, oxygen cabins, mobile first-aid units, and buses to transport the patients’ companions.
