IMPHAL, India: In an alarming reflection of the increasing lawlessness prevailing in the violence-hit state of Manipur in India, a distressing incident occurred recently in the capital city, Imphal.

Unidentified perpetrators targeted a neighbourhood within the city, resulting in the torching of three vacant houses.

The incident unfolded in the New Lambulane locality of Imphal, where the yet-to-be-identified assailants set fire to three abandoned houses. The act not only posed a direct threat to the safety and security of the area but also sent shockwaves throughout the community.

The immediate aftermath of the incident saw concerned residents gather at the site of the arson, displaying their collective outrage against the brazen act. In response to the growing crowd, paramilitary forces were called upon to restore order. Regrettably, tear gas shells were employed to disperse the assembled individuals, a move that underscored the seriousness of the situation.

In a parallel and equally concerning development, another group of unidentified individuals targeted Indian paramilitary personnel assigned to protect the residence of former Health and Family Welfare Director K Rajo. This incident transpired in the Sagolband Bijoy Govinda area under the jurisdiction of the Imphal Police Station, situated within the larger Imphal West district.
