ISLAMABAD: Bruised and battered underage housemaid Rizwana who was allegedly subjected to inhuman torture by the wife of a civil judge in Islamabad recorded her statement to police on Friday.
The fourteen-year-old fight for her life for days and her condition made an international uproar as how the ‘law of the land’ operates in Pakistan.
Somia Hafeez, wife of the civil judge, currently held in jail as her bail petition had been rejected. Her brutal side was revealed when she beat the minor to a pulp for allegedly stealing her jewelery.
Rizwana narrated her heart-wrenching story as how she was subjected to beatings by the judge’s wife with iron rods and wooden sticks.
Tearfully, she stated that her head was banged on the wall many a time. Her precarious condition made her parents file a complaint in the police station and that’s how the brutal episode was exposed to the public.
Torture marks on Rizwana’s body
Police in its report have mentioned over 15 torture marks on Rizwana’s face and body.
Rizwana is undergoing plastic surgery as the judge’s wife allegedly inflicted wounds that are deep and need plastic surgery.
Dr Romana Ikhlaq conducted the surgery on Rizwana’s face and the operation took nearly three hours, however, there are more procedures that will follow suit. Her hands and head injuries were deeply infected and it took a relatively long time to get her out of the intensive care.
The family of the affected maid said that the girl was working as a servant at the civil judge’s house in Islamabad for six months but she was never paid any salary.
