NEW DELHI: Life for Christians in India was getting worst with passing every day as they grappled with increasingly difficult circumstances to practice their religion in the face of right-wing Hindu extremists who are continuously attacking them in Narendra Modi’s regime.

In the most recent incident, a group of Hindu extremists associated with the Bajrang Dal stormed a Christian worship gathering at Siyyon Prathna Bhawan in the heart of the Indian capital. This intrusion took a violent turn, as female worshipers were subjected to physical assaults, and the Bible, the sacred book of the Christians, was desecrated.

According to accounts from Maktoob Media, the Bajrang Dal extremists forcefully entered the place of worship, creating a disruptive atmosphere.  They were carrying a loudspeaker to chant the slogan that they would make a ‘Hindu Nation’.

The situation escalated into clashes between the worshipers and the intruders, resulting in acts of vandalism that targeted religious texts.

Harassment of Female Worshipers in India

The attackers also harassed the female worshipers. The Hindu extremists were even physical assaulted during the incident. The clash prompted a gathering of over 100 people outside the GTB Enclave police station, including members associated with the Bajrang Dal, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), and Vishva Hindu Parishad. Concurrently, the Christian community was working to file a First Information Report (FIR) concerning the incident.

The incident highlights the growing concerns surrounding religious freedom and tolerance in India. The clash of ideologies and the violation of a sacred space have prompted questions about the broader implications of such incidents. As the Christian community continues to seek the right to practice their faith without fear, the nation grapples with the challenges of upholding diverse beliefs and maintaining social harmony.
