ISLAMABAD: The Hindu community celebrated their religious festival of Diwali on Sunday with zeal, enthusiasm and religious fervour, local media reported.

According to APP, Pakistan Hindu Council has attributed this year’s Diwali to an “immediate truce in Gaza”. The festival of lights was marked by fireworks displays, festive gatherings, feasts and prayers.
In his congratulation message on the occasion, Patron-in-Chief of Pakistan Hindu Council, Ramesh Kumar Vankwani stated this annual festival is the victory of good over evil, light on darkness, and knowledge over ignorance.

The annual festival is marked according to the lunisolar Hindu calendar and falls between mid-October and mid-November on the 15th day of Kartik month – the darkest night of the year. The celebrations are spread across 5 days, starting with Dhanteras and ending with Bhai Dooj, Ramesh Kumar Vankwani further said
