ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar told the Senate on Thursday that there was no backchannel diplomacy going on with India.
Responding to a supplementary query of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Senator Faisal Javed, she said that the incumbent government did not ever engage in backchannel diplomacy between the two countries.
Chances of backchannel diplomacy
She said that if backchannel diplomacy was fruitful, then it should be done.
Khar said that the messages, being received from India were all conflagratory therefore there were no negotiations on any kind of bilateral trade.
She said that talks were possible if there was any good opportunity and India accepted Pakistan’s demands. Politicians should do the right things instead of creating hurdles in diplomacy. –APP
