Malaysian High Commissioner Azhar Visits Islamabad Chamber of Small Traders and Industries

ISLAMABAD:  Malaysian High Commissioner Azhar, accompanied by Mr. Mohd Syafik, Counsellor of the High Commission, visited the Islamabad Chamber of Small Traders and Small Industries (ICSTSI).

The purpose of the visit was to strengthen bilateral engagement between the High Commission and ICSTSI. The meeting included discussions on the development of small traders and industries in Pakistan, highlighting the potential for mutual benefits in trade and investment.

High Commissioner Azhar emphasized the need for Malaysia and Pakistan to explore opportunities for cooperation, particularly in the small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) sector. The meeting concluded with a question-and-answer session, fostering a cordial and warm atmosphere.

The President of ICSTSI presented a shield to High Commissioner Azhar, symbolizing the positive exchange during the visit. The bilateral relations between Malaysia and Pakistan, including trade statistics and key partnerships, were also highlighted during the discussion

Drawing parallels, High Commissioner Azhar underscored the importance of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in both Malaysia and Pakistan. He noted that Malaysia has over 1.2 million SMEs, constituting a significant portion of the nation’s businesses and contributing substantially to the GDP. The High Commissioner emphasized the need for Malaysia and Pakistan to leverage the potential of SMEs for mutual benefits, especially in the wake of the Malaysia-Pakistan strategic partnership.
