ISLAMABAD: High alert has been declared in hospitals across Pakistan’s capital Islamabad and all leaves for hospital staff have been cancelled, Pakistan state-run television, PTV said citing the Health Ministry spokesperson on Wednesday.
It reported that instructions have been issued for all employees to remain on duty, while medical staff currently out of the city has been directed to report back immediately.
State-run news agency, APP reported that in response to India’s aggression against Pakistan, Islamabad’s hospitals have been placed on high alert, while the district administration has started reviewing emergency preparations in key medical facilities.
To ensure full readiness
In this regard, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Islamabad Irfan Nawaz Memon also visited major public hospitals in the federal capital, including Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Polyclinic and Capital Development Authority (CDA) Hospital, to inspect emergency arrangements, said the spokesman of Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration, the APP reported.
Following these visits, all non-emergency surgeries in government hospitals have been postponed. Officials said this decision was taken to ensure full readiness in case of any medical emergency related to the regional situation.
