BEIRUT, Lebanon: Hezbollah announced on Saturday that it had launched dozens of Katyusha rockets at Israel, marking the latest in a series of attacks purportedly in support of the Palestinian people. The Iran-backed militant group stated that this most recent assault on Beit Hillel in northern Israel was a direct response to Israel’s attacks on Kfar Kela and Deir Siriane in Lebanon, which reportedly resulted in civilian injuries.

This escalation is part of a broader pattern of increasing hostilities in the region, following the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, an act attributed to Israel. Haniyeh, a key figure in the Palestinian resistance, was crucial in ongoing mediation efforts aimed at achieving a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel in Gaza. His death has sparked calls for retribution and has further destabilized an already volatile situation, drawing in Iran-backed groups from Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, and Yemen.

The recent surge in violence, including Hezbollah’s rocket attacks and Israel’s retaliatory strikes, underscores the fragile nature of peace in the Middle East. International calls for de-escalation and renewed peace talks are growing louder, yet the path to a lasting resolution remains unclear amid the ongoing cycle of violence and revenge.
