GAZA: Hezbollah on Tuesday launched a series of drone and rocket attacks into northern Israel, targeting military sites, further intensifying regional tensions following Israel’s strikes in Beirut and Tehran.
Hezbollah said it launched a swarm of attack drones at two military sites near Acre in northern Israel, and also attacked an Israeli military vehicle in another location.
While the Israeli military intercepted one drone, several civilians were injured near the coastal city of Nahariya.
The military reported that sirens sounded around Acre but were a false alarm. In response, Israel’s air force struck two Hezbollah facilities in southern Lebanon.
Hezbollah has warned that its much-anticipated retaliation for the killing of a top commander, Fuad Shukr, last week has not yet come.
Earlier in the day, four people, reportedly Hezbollah fighters, were killed in a strike on a home in the Lebanese town of Mayfadoun, though Hezbollah had not yet confirmed the deaths.

The ongoing conflict between Hezbollah and Israel, which has been parallel to the Gaza war, has seen frequent exchanges of fire over the past 10 months, primarily along the border.
Hezbollah’s leader, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, has promised a “studied” response to Shukr’s assassination and is expected to address the issue during a memorial event for Shukr later today.
