BEIRUT, Lebanon: Hezbollah on Monday pledged to keep up the fight against Israeli “aggression,” on the anniversary of its ally Hamas’s October 7 attack.
The group stated that both it and Lebanon have paid a significant price for opening a “support front” for Gaza, a move initiated on October 8, just a day after the attack. Hezbollah’s positions Israel as a “cancerous gland” that must be eradicated, indicating the group’s determination to persist in its confrontations with Israeli forces regardless of the duration or consequences.
In response to escalating tensions, the Israeli military has intensified its operations in southern Lebanon, deploying its 91st Division, which is the third division mobilized for ground operations against Hezbollah. The Israeli army described this deployment as part of a strategy for localized and targeted operations to neutralize threats from Hezbollah.
The conflict underscores the complex dynamics at play in the region, where Hezbollah’s alignment with Hamas and support from Iran complicates peace efforts. Analysts suggest that Hezbollah’s involvement signifies a broader Iranian strategy to exert influence in the region and counter Israel’s military activities. The situation remains fluid, with both sides gearing up for a potentially prolonged conflict, highlighting the volatile state of affairs in the Middle East.
Hezbollah has said that it launched a salvo of Fadi 1 missiles at the Carmel base, south of Haifa, and conducted a rocket assault on the Nimra base, west of Tiberias.
According to Al-Jazeera strike on Haifa was its 18th assault on Israeli positions on Sunday, while the one on Tiberias marked its first attack today. Israeli media reported that at least eleven people have been injured in the Hezbollah attack.
Israel’s year-long attack on the Gaza Strip has caused massive human and material losses. According to Palestinian media office in Gaza that the Israeli military has committed more than 3,650 massacres over the last year.
It said that over 41,800 people have been killed and more than 96,800 wounded, while 10,000 people are still missing or presumed dead under the rubble in the Gaza Strip.
